Sustainability

Pristine waters
From the cold, unspoiled waters of the North Atlantic, our fish is harvested in one of the cleanest marine environments in the world. These pristine seas are carefully managed under Iceland’s responsible fisheries policy, ensuring healthy stocks today and for generations to come.

Unmatched Freshness
With fishing grounds close to shore and our own fleet delivering directly to local factories, we minimize transport time and maximize resource use. Line-caught fish moves from sea to processing within hours, preserving superior freshness and flavor while reducing environmental impact.

World-Class Food Safety
Sustainability also means accountability. Our factories meet strict EU regulations, operate under HACCP systems, and hold globally recognized certifications. This guarantees not only the highest food safety but also that every product comes from a transparent, responsibly managed supply chain.

Fresh or frozen
Whether you choose fresh fish or individually quick frozen (IQF), our products are harvested and processed with sustainability at the core. IQF technology locks in natural flavor and texture at the moment of harvest, reducing waste and ensuring nothing is lost between ocean and plate.

Responsible by Tradition,
Innovative by Nature
Sustainability is not just a standard we follow—it’s part of who we are. Since 1941, IWS has combined respect for the ocean with cutting-edge technology to make fishing smarter, safer, and more efficient. From reducing bycatch and fuel consumption to maximizing yield from every catch, we continually innovate to protect marine resources while delivering premium seafood to our customers.
